I’m A Celeb Move Great For Hancock

The iconic TV show I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here! is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, and will mark the occasion by having its greatest contestant yet.

It’s hard to believe that the inaugural series, won by Tony Blackburn, took place two whole decades ago. Little did we know that the show would become a mainstay of British TV and become among the most iconic shows ever produced by this country.

Hosted by lovable Geordie duo Ant and Dec, the show has given us memories from Peter and Jordan’s romance to numerous grizzly bushtucker trials.

LORD PING: FOR OPINIONATED PLAYERS

Back In The Spotlight

It has recently been announced that Matt Hancock, the former Health Secretary, will take part in the latest series of I’m A Celeb. Hancock, back in the public spotlight after his 2021 resignation, hopes to humanize his image and put a name to the face that millions of Brits saw regularly during the COVID-19 pandemic.

No matter what your political persuasions are, you have to admit that Hancock’s desire to be featured on the show demands respect. The public are quick to lambast our politicians for lacking personality, yet here Hancock is wanting to show a different side to him.

Hancock Comments

Speaking on his scheduled appearance, which will see Hancock survive in the Australian outback, Hancock said:

‘’While there will undoubtedly be those who think I shouldn’t go, I think it’s a great opportunity to talk directly to people who aren’t always interested in politics, even if they care very much about how our country’s run. It’s our job as politicians to go to where the people are — not to sit in ivory towers in Westminster.”

The comments drew applause from me that was so emphatic my hands almost bled. I have never agreed with a public figure so much in my life, and I hope other Brits will give Hancock as much of a chance as I will.

Hancock Support

Though he may not win the competition, I believe the former Health Secretary already deserves to leave Australia victorious. He has by far the biggest profile heading in, and has committed himself to living like the common sort for at least a couple of weeks. In my eyes, he’s the rightful winner of I’m A Celeb’s 20th season already.

I, too, have previously committed to living like a pauper when I stayed in a three-star hotel during a domestic holiday last summer. Though it was tough, and I couldn’t get used to the lack of opulence, I believe my decision won acclaim among my local community, and my ‘street-cred’ was fully restored with the youths.

I fully support Matt Hancock and, whether he wins the competition or not, he’s gained a new fan.
