King Charles III has shocked everyone, including myself, by inviting Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to his coronation ceremony.
The King, who has been on the throne since September, is set to be officially crowned 6 May 2023 at Westminster Abbey - the site of every British coronation since 1066.
Harry And Meghan Invite
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been formally welcomed to the grand ceremony as, as a source close to the King said, His Majesty ‘’loves both his sons.’’
This is despite the vile Netflix series that has recently come out, where the Sussexes made statements that would’ve been considered high treason back in the good old days. In a typical display of class, the King has decided to leave that to one side and invite the former Royals regardless.
The grand occasion will leave me awestruck, proud, teary-eyed, and even more patriotic than ever. It’ll be the first coronation ceremony I will ever witness, and, if Charles reigns for a long time, it will most likely be the last.
I personally would have Harry and Meghan nowhere near the coronation, as their emotional war on the Royal Family is entirely unforgivable. Then again, the King is clearly a better man than I - though I knew that already.
Spokespeople from Buckingham Palace have said the coronation will be ‘’rooted in long standing traditions and pageantry”’ yet it will also look toward the future of monarchy and reflect the King’s wish for a more humble, scaled-down occasion.
As the countdown to Charles’ coronation begins, I think we should all take a minute to reflect on how graciously he is handling the toxicity of the Harry and Meghan drama. Lesser men would have erased the disgraced pair from the history books, whereas His Majesty is determined to build bridges and put water under them.
The moment the King forgives the Sussexes will be the moment I will, too, for I have relied on the Royals for my opinions and overall philosophy on life since the moment I was born. As I reel from the pain caused by the Netflix series, I thank my lucky stars that we’re blessed to have a King with such internal fortitude.
