Protester Starts Fire
A traitor has infiltrated the gates of Buckingham Palace and sparked a fire outside its gates. The man, who has not been named, has just ruined the Christmas spirit I have worked so hard to generate.
Instead, I will spend the run-up to Christmas worrying about the Royals’ well-being. Sleepless nights and bad dreams are on the horizon for yours truly, all thanks to a man who thought it was appropriate to drench Buckingham Palace in flames.
Police were called to the famous palace at around 10pm on 20 December after reports of the blaze came in. I was shocked and appalled to see a video of the man (who I can only describe as a Guy Fawkes-esque traitor) approaching the Royal residence with ease, despite his ill intentions and clearly-inferior social status.
Met Police Statement
A Met Police statement read: 'Shortly after 22.08hrs on Tuesday, 20 December, a 30-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage after a small fire was seen near the Buckingham Palace gates.’
The fire was, thankfully, quickly put out and the man was taken into police custody.
The grim incident comes just days after the King was horrifically targeted with eggs in both Luton and York. In a year where His Majesty has lost his mother and witnessed the release of Harry and Meghan’s Netflix, the least the King deserves is to be left alone at his residence.
Windsor Fire Memories
Call me overly-dramatic, but something about last night’s fiasco brought me back to 1992 - when a devastating fire ripped through Windsor Castle and destroyed a countless amount of Royal treasures. I vividly remember watching the inferno from my own large, inherited estate, and thinking that the blaze could have been extinguished with all the tears I had created.
As Britain rolls towards 2023, we must pledge to put things like protests, strikes, and aspirations for better pay and conditions behind us. Instead, let’s focus on the important things - like keeping the Royals safe and not disturbing their slumber.
Attempting to set fire to Buckingham Palace is one of the worst crimes I can think of. Once more details on the incident come out, I sincerely hope this man is named and shamed.
